A man was arrest at Ampol service station on Pittwater Road in Manly this morning.
A witness to an incident involving an alleged armed man at Manly's Ampol service station this morning, 29 April, has recalled how the accused told her to "go go go" as he entered the premises holding what appeared to be a knife.
The local girl was passing through with a friend this morning, about 6am, when the man entered the store and reportedly approached the counter while waving around a weapon. Police were quick to arrive on scene and later apprehended the man about an hour later in the store, footage seen by Manly Observer shows.
Police confirmed they arrested the 35-year-old without incident.
The man was initially taken to hospital for assessment while police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
The witnesses have provided information to police.
"It was strange, I don't think there was anyone around, like maybe a few parked cars but that's about it. We were parked outside and slowly getting out of the car and as the automatic door opened this guy just came up right behind us to our right and was waving a knife and saying like 'go go go go go' so we got back in the car and drove off for about a street then called the police. We were really worried for the attendant."
We understand the attendant was not harmed.
