Alex Bank is seeking a seasoned and strategic General Counsel and Company Secretary to join our team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, fast-growing organisation as we redefine banking in Australia.
About the Role
As General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will provide expert legal and company secretarial support, working across the organisation to ensure compliance, manage governance, and offer strategic legal advice. You'll engage directly with the Board, Committees, and senior leadership, helping shape decisions critical to Alex Bank's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver legal advice on business agreements, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Oversee corporate governance activities, including managing Board and Committee meetings and ensuring statutory compliance.
Support product development, review marketing materials, and approve disclosures for regulatory compliance.
Build relationships with external legal providers, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective service.
Advise on dispute resolution, contractual negotiations, and shareholder communications.
What You'll Bring:
Extensive in-house experience legal and CoSec experience in financial services.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including ACL, AFSL, and ADI requirements.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, and proven ability to manage competing priorities.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and external advisors.
