About you
You will be a people-first person who brings a common-sense mindset to your work and adopts an approachable style in your professional interactions.

In terms of experience, you will have experience in Government procurement or projects, contract law, procurement, or commercial arrangements in a boutique or large legal or consulting firm, or Government department.
Ideally, this will be gained in a Defence or related national security context (e.g., with exposure to the ASDEFCON suite of contracts or related Commonwealth procurement suites).
Relevant experience could include commercial and contracts law, probity, evaluations, approach-to-market development and tendering, negotiations, and procurement and contract management – although we are keen to hear from those with a diverse background in equivalent areas.

Given the nature of our work, an AGSVA-issued security clearance is essential.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold an active NV1 clearance at minimum.
Baseline clearances may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Applicants that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
The role
You will be directly involved in delivering nationally significant and high profile projects for the defence of Australia in the growing maritime, air, land, space, and joint domains.
During your time with us, you will advise on a range of procurement, commercial law, and contracting issues.
This will include you taking a leading role on the following:
Providing strategic commercial expertise and support to help manage a significant procurement activity; Assisting and driving development of internal approval documents such as Endorsement to Proceed, Liability Risk Assessment, Contract Negotiation Directive, Section 23 delegate submissions and other documents as required; Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and policy obligations; Assisting and driving development of contracting artefacts as required, including approach to market documentation; Participating and contributing meaningfully with relevant experience and expertise to workshops between the Commonwealth and the Contractor to refine final contracting artefacts; Supporting contract negotiation activities to achieve contract signature; Working flexibly and supporting other priorities as needed.
As a senior member of our team, you will also take a leading role in the day-to-day management and administration of a team of junior personnel and in directly contributing to client relationships and outcomes, and delivering on our firm-wide growth strategy.
