A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months.This merit list or pool may be used to fill other vacancies in Brindabella Business Park.The RoleFuture Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Systems Program Office (FISRSPO) is seeking a professional engineering manager to lead the Airworthiness program for AIR7001 MQ-4C Triton project. The project is a first-of-type Un-crewed Aerial System (UAS) for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and is a developmental platform in partnership with the United States Navy.Primary responsibilities for the position include:Managing the Airworthiness program for MQ-4C Triton to meet project milestones.Actively lead, develop, and mentor the FISRSPO Airworthiness team members.Accountable to the FISRSPO Air Systems Team Lead to undertake engineering activities across the Airworthiness program and various other acquisition tasks.Leading the development of engineering artefacts to support MQ-4C Triton Design Holder obligations and project transition milestones.Investigate aerospace engineering concepts, deliver and manage aerospace engineering specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle.Governance, assurance, and planning functions across the Airworthiness domains, requiring stakeholder engagement with multiple Defence agencies and industry organisations.Maintaining the integrity of the Engineering Management System for the Airworthiness program including reviewing, assessing, making recommendations, and approval of engineering artefacts.Involvement in the Safety Risk Management Framework, analysing and proposing mitigations for any identified hazards.The successful candidate will be required to undertake work on and be provided with technical information pertaining to Defence articles of United States of America (US) origin. In accordance with the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), any applicant who holds, or has previously held, citizenship or permanent residency of a country other than Australia will be required to declare and indicate the country or countries of citizenship or permanent residency. 'Future Skies, Future Eyes' is the FISRSPO motto and it speaks to our need to ensure Australia's readiness for future challenges. FISRSPO is currently responsible for two major projects set to imminently deliver the next two unique platforms to the Royal Australian Air Force fleet. The materiel we acquire includes crewed and un-crewed aerial systems and ground control segments, training systems, and associated infrastructure and support systems.FISRSPO is also responsible for the integration of all elements of the Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC), to ensure seamless transition to service of the acquired capability, enabling achievement of Initial Operational Capability (IOC), and Final Operational Capability (FOC) on time and within budget. FISRSPO is an integrated workplace with ADF, APS and contracted personnel, committed to flexible work practices.Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidates will be a highly trained and qualified engineer in the relevant discipline who have:Experience in the application of the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) or other Airworthiness regulations.Leadership and mentoring experience of a technical focused team.The confidence and maturity to complete complex tasks independently and to delegate tasks to team members within their technical skillset.Has the ability to use a large range of data to synthesise concise responses and informed engineering reports.The desire to learn, develop, and excel in the aerospace engineering environment with unique UAS Airworthiness regulations.Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic with a drive to produce successful solutions.A passion and enthusiasm for developmental technology while applying novel engineering approaches.A willingness to work in a dynamic and diverse environment, responsible for undertaking critical analysis of engineering data, risk management, stakeholder engagement and the development of engineering documentation.The confidence and expertise to represent the organisation with external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes while overcoming the challenges of project complexity, working at a distance, in different time zones, and being sensitive to differing cultures and work practices.Security Clearance:Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 2".Mandatory Qualifications:This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.RecruitAbility applies to this vacancy.
