Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, performs manual work involving landscaping, irrigation systems, fence repair, runway repair, painting of buildings and runways, and assists technicians as required.
Responsibilities:Operate lawn equipment, such as mowers, edgers, blowers, fertilizer spreaders, and clippers.Mow grass, pull weeds, pick up trash and debris, sweep sand and gravel, dig trenches, and clean drainage ditches.Perform maintenance on lawn sprinkler systems including installing and replacing zone valves, sprinkler heads, and related plumbing components.Assist technicians in removing and replacing heavy components (Note: Heavy lifting required).Perform inspections of fencing, and repair and install fencing as required.Wash windows to a height of 50 feet using electric lift.Drive vehicles on Airport ramps, taxiways, runways, and safety areas. Must coordinate radio directions and light gun signals from the control tower.Perform safety inspections of runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and lighting systems for operation, and record results of inspection and report problems to supervisor.Assist airport staff during emergencies involving aircraft or vehicle accidents, incidents, inclement weather conditions, and assist in fuel spill clean-ups to protect the environment.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma or GED.6 (six) months experience in manual labor and lifting, landscape maintenance, and general knowledge of hand tools.Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License.Must be able to pass required FAA security background investigation.Must attend an FAA Security Standards Class and successfully pass a test with a minimum score of 70.Skills and Abilities:Ability to learn how to drive on an airfield.Knowledge of tools and equipment required to complete the above tasks.Ability to learn two-way radio communication skills utilizing aviation radio procedures and use of phonetic alphabet.Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English and to understand written and oral directions.Ability to work various shifts as assigned.Knowledge of OSHA safety rules.Knowledge of driving and working in a fast-paced airfield environment.Ability to learn, understand, and remember normal tasks.Ability to hear, speak, and understand conversation in English in a normal tone of voice.Ability to see and read letters, numbers, characters, or symbols and identify colors.Ability to use small hand tools which require the use of hands, wrist, and fingers.Ability to climb ladders and stairs.Ability to perform hard manual labor in all weather conditions.Ability to lift 50 pounds.Ability to lift large pieces of equipment including bending and squatting.Ability to walk and work on unstable soil conditions.Ability to work in adverse weather conditions day or night, including very hot and humid weather.Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. #J-18808-Ljbffr
