Northrop Grumman Australia partners with the Royal Australian Air Force to provide through-life support for its fleet of C-27 J Spartan Airlifter aircraft. The C-27 J complements the Australian Defence Force's existing Air Mobility fleet and provides airlift of people, equipment and supplies to support Humanitarian Disaster Relief and crisis response in Australia and nearby regions. Your Role As the C-27 J Aircraft Structures Integrity (ASI) Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity of the RAAF C-27 J fleet. Reporting to the C-27 J Structures Design Lead, you will manage the C-27 J Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP), maintaining the highest standards of airworthiness and operational efficiency. In this role, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams across various sites, overseeing projects that tackle complex structural challenges and making critical decisions that prioritise aviation safety while balancing economic considerations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining plans and procedures, overseeing routine and on-demand engineering tasks, and working within a Systems Engineering framework to address airworthiness concerns. You will collaborate with experts across NGAPL Sustainment and Modernisation Services (SMS) and external stakeholders to ensure the continued safe and effective operation of the C-27 J fleet. Your technical expertise will also play a key role in mentoring staff and ensuring the ASIP remains robust and forward-thinking. About You You are an experienced engineer with a passion for aviation safety and structural integrity, holding a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering, with eligibility for Engineers Australia membership and RPEQ registration. Your hands-on experience in Aircraft Structural Integrity Management on ADF platforms positions you as a subject matter expert, confident in working with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) and other relevant standards. You excel in problem-solving within complex environments, using both technical and non-technical knowledge to deliver practical solutions. You thrive in leadership roles, guiding teams through difficult decision-making processes, and are committed to continuous learning and mentoring. With a strong understanding of engineering cost drivers and configuration management, you ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining rigorous safety standards.
