The Role We are looking for a resourceful, enthusiastic and self-driven Product Manager with hardware or similar experience, to work closely with our National Account Manager to execute plans for category range extensions and continued growth with a major leading hardware retailer.
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing, the Product Manager will be instrumental in driving our success within this major account.
Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Product Development: Develop and execute category strategy, road map, and new product development. Conduct product research, competitive analysis, and market intel to support product lifecycle management. Identify NPD opportunities through market research and supplier information. Business Planning and Reporting: Prepare short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and create business cases for management. Contribute to the development of annual business plans and budgeting for National Accounts, providing monthly progress reports. Sales and Marketing Support: Drive sales in category ranges with promotional activities and initiatives. Collaborate with the graphic designer on packaging design, POS, technical brochures, and marketing support information. Assist with customer tenders and support the sales team. Process Improvement and Quality Management: Assess, implement, and champion process improvements to foster a culture of continuous enhancement. Manage and control quality improvement processes for assigned categories. Supplier and Partnership Management: Collaborate with external third parties to explore long term partnerships. Identify reputable suppliers capable of delivering quality products and merchandising solutions, considering environmental and safety factors. Product Data and Training: Provide training and support to internal teams. Manage and maintain SAP item master data. Work closely with the procurement team to establish an ongoing pipeline of productivity initiatives aimed at achieving cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality. Skills and Experience To be successful in this role you must have a 'can do' attitude, the drive and determination to succeed, plus be able to demonstrate:
Five years' experience as a Product Manager, ideally within the hardware industry. Sound working knowledge of the hardware market, including customers and competitors. Ability to apply Australian Standards in the development of new products. Intermediate to Advanced IT skills – particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and sales trends/data. Strong analytical skills, both numeric and situational. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills. Professional and energetic presentation skills. Team-focused with the ability to motivate and develop strong, collaborative teams. Highly motivated with excellent planning and time management skills.
