Your part-time role As a Nurse in the Air Force Specialist Reserve, you'll provide the highest standards of patient care and lead teams in a variety of environments. You'll provide specialist aviation nursing and healthcare to ADF personnel in deployed and non-deployed environments. When called upon, you may also have opportunities to assist communities in need both within Australia and overseas. No two days are the same in this exciting and varied role, as one day you could be working in a resuscitation team on the ground or as part of a specialist critical care aeromedical team, and the next attending to earthquake injuries in a remote location. In addition to fulfilling a management and leadership role as an Officer in the Air Force, you will carry out general nursing duties at hospitals and clinics, gaining valuable primary healthcare skills. This is an opportunity to further develop your skills and expertise and take on a rewarding part-time role in an environment like no other. Salary The pay you receive in the Air Force Specialist Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience. You will earn a good salary from day one, and on completion of your initial military training you could earn a tax-free daily rate of $233. Training You'll be required to complete the Specialist Reserve Induction Course (SRIC) at RAAF Base East Sale. All Health Specialist Reserve members must also complete the Operational Health Support training, located at RAAF Base Amberley, as well as an online Health Officer Conversion Course. You will be offered further employment training to conduct your role as required Location Specialist Reserve members may be recruited from any location within Australia. You will be posted to either a Joint Health or Air Force Health Services Wing for duty which may include exercises or deployments. Apply now For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment, and possess the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor of Nursing and unrestricted AHPRA Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma / Masters in one of the listed nursing specialty areas, Currency In Advanced Life Support (ARC ALS 2 or equivalent), and Two years' (fulltime or equivalent) employment in postgraduate course experience working in your chosen specialty area and working a minimum of 20 hours (0.5 FTE) per week. You must also be able to obtain a security clearance and meet the minimum medical and fitness requirements. More information is available here .
