About the Role
The Aircrew Officer (ACO) supports the Pilot in Command (PIC) by providing timely and accurate information and advice to the PIC to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft by day and night, including Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations.
The Toowoomba-based Aircrew Officer role includes ACO front left seat duties, over land/water winch operations, primary response missions, SAR, and inter facility transfers. The role is full time, working a four-on / four-off roster, two-day shifts, two-night shifts, followed by four days off.
As an Aircrew Officer, your key accountabilities are to:
Assist the pilot to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other government support duties. Ensure the PIC is promptly advised on all matters affecting the safety, serviceability or effectiveness of the aircraft or the operation. Carry out all duties and training in accordance with the LifeFlight Australia's Operations Manual. Assist in ensuring that all flight and task documentation is accurately completed and that all crews are adequately briefed and de briefed on any deficiencies promptly addressed. Undertake and support operational duties during emergencies and disasters as necessary. About You We are looking for an experienced Aircrew Officer who can demonstrate a background in a commercial or military environment and is looking for their next challenge.
Along with excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in being part of a team, you will be comfortable offering operational support including administrative and other non-flight tasks.
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum 500 hours as a Helicopter Aircrew Officer Certificate IV Aviation – Aircrew Officer Winch and Rappel Competency Certificate NVIS qualification CASA Aviation Class 2 or Basic Class 2 Medical Certificate Current Senior First Aid & CPR Crew Resource Management HUET / EBS Qualified Dangerous Good Awareness Ability to pass the LifeFlight Functionality Assessment (ACO) Highly Desirable:
Minimum 100 hours NVIS experience, including night winching Front Left Hand Seat Operations AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operator's Certificate) SAR / EMS experience on B412 or AW139 Functionality Assessment:
The initial Functionality Test for the ACO role is made of the following components and is to be completed within a two (2) hour timeframe.
Assessment 1 – Abdominal Strength Test – 30 sit-ups under 2 minutes Assessment 2 – Upper Body Strength Test – 20 push-ups under 2 minutes Assessment 3 – Safe lifting techniques – 5 kettlebell deadlifts Assessment 4 – 1km Equipment Transfer (16kg) – under 10 minutes Assessment 5 – 500m Stretcher Carry (16kg) – under 6 minutes Why LifeFlight?
