About This Role: Children's Centres for Early Childhood Development and Parenting provide a network of integrated health, family support, and education service hubs for families with babies and young children across South Australia. Children's centres occupational therapists provide a range of discipline-informed group and individual services for children, families, and colleagues that promote children's healthy development and support parenting.
The occupational therapist provides evidence-based services drawing upon key frameworks including attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, cultural responsiveness, and a strengths-based approach. Occupational therapists and speech pathologists are members of interdisciplinary teams working in partnership with families and colleagues across community, home, and learning environments.
Qualifications: Essential: Current and full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Special Conditions: Gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to employment requiring renewal every five years. Undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course (updated every three years). Gabmididi Manoo Children and Family Centre, Whyalla – Part-time (0.5 FTE) for 12-month contract starting 11/02/2025.
Kirton Point Children's Centre, Port Lincoln – Part-time (0.3 FTE) for 12-month contract starting 01/01/2025.
Mount Gambier Children's Centre – Part-time (0.6 FTE) ongoing contract starting 01/01/2025.
Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre, Ceduna – Part-time (0.6 FTE) contract starting immediately until 05/08/2025.
Roles are based in these locations; however, FIFO arrangements from Adelaide will be considered with meal and accommodation allowances provided and flight and airport parking/travel costs covered.
