The position The purpose of this position is to support project managers in multiple projects and deliver quality project outcomes and deliverables to meet commercial agreements with clients within budget and in a timely manner. The position works within our engineer, science and drafting teams, and delivers services to project managers in all offices. The position may require, at times, field work and data collection.
The position reports directly to the Operations Manager in regard to project and task delivery. The position has technical and quality reporting to relevant scientists, engineers and other technical specialists and the HSEQ officer.
Duties for this Position: Support of Project Managers and Client Managers, as delegated by the Operations Manager. Assist with project scoping, building project budgets and winning proposals. Deliver quality project outcomes including, data analyses and create letters, maps, briefs, reports and other technical advices. Procure project related items, within budget, as required. Undertake occasional field investigations and data collection and assessments; including projects away from the office, requiring travel and stays away from home. Assist project managers with project completion following the business protocols. Positively liaise with, and maintain, cooperative relationships with clients, government agency staff and peers. Learn, use and comply with our ISO 9001 systems. Formal Qualifications and Experience Required: Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Agricultural Science, Applied Science, or related. A minimum of 2 years in an Australian professional, or technical, consultancy position, in private industry. Demonstrated experience in analytical and report writing. Demonstrated experience in related project tasks. Current Open driver's license. (manual vehicle preferred). "White Card" or ability to obtain. First Aid certificate is preferred. Accountabilities and Responsibilities You are responsible for: Completing work on time and to a quality standard. Accepting, implementing, executing and completing project tasks form scoping through to project closure. Ensuring that relationships with our clients and stakeholders (suppliers/peers/support staff/contractors) are maintained in good order. Manage project tasks and complete on time, with quality workmanship, within the project budget. Being fit for work. Reporting, immediately, any injury. You are accountable for: Reporting to the weekly operations meeting, risk items, your progress on projects, and scheduled completions; Weekly delivery of project tasks and deliverables against deadlines; Completing project tasks, as agreed at the start of the week, by the end of each week; Every week, at week end (or better), reporting your activity time by data entry to our systems; Project completion to the business standards; Immediately reporting any incident accident to your supervisor, HSEQ committee member and Poka Yoke; Reporting observations or potential improvements to Poka Yoke. Selection Criteria: The candidate must respond to the following selection criteria:
1. Tertiary qualifications in a science, and experience a relevant area; 2. Proven experience, in Australia, in private industry consultancy (2 years minimum); 3. Rural background or experience working in Australian rural regional areas; 4. Proven ability to manage time and prioritise projects with competing interests; 5. Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; 6. A proactive self-starter, motivated, with the ability to self-manage but also to take direction from management.
