As an Agricultural Economist you will:
Support DAF staff and projects through the delivery of high-quality economic evaluation and extension of information to farmers targeting improved profitability and sustainability.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with landholders, industry organisations, colleagues, natural resource management groups, universities and other government agencies.Use economics to solve problems and identify solutions for agricultural production activities, natural resource management initiatives and policy analysis.Job detailsPosition status: Fixed Term Temporary

As our Agricultural Economist, you will:Provide support to DPI staff and projects through the delivery of high-quality economic evaluation and extension of information to farmers targeting improved profitability and sustainability.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships (in multi-disciplinary teams) with landholders, industry organisations, colleagues, natural resource management groups, universities and other government agencies.Develop bio-economic models and use other economic analysis methods to assess agricultural production activities, natural resource management initiatives and policy analysis (gross margin analysis, cost benefit analysis, partial budgeting, risk analysis etc.).Use appropriate economic methodologies to analyse project data in a timely manner to ensure milestones are met and prepare case study reports, papers and other communication material.Undertake projects and activities as required and self-organise workflow priorities and projects to ensure outcomes are met.Utilise and provide training to stakeholders in the use of DPI economic decision support tools (e.g. https://featonline.com.au).You will be required to undertake overnight travel to fulfil certain tasks.
