The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.Purpose of role
IT Portfolio Governance, Strategy and Architecture is responsible for the systematic management of QFD ICT investment, governance, portfolio, projects, and assurance activities to support operations and organisational capability. The IT Portfolio Management team will ensure all initiatives are delivered within the required governance, assurance and reporting requirements by applying program and project methodologies and processes.Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating the adoption activities for approved and established program and project management methodologies, frameworks, tools, processes and templates through coaching and educating. Maintaining and enhancing Agile ways of working within ITD teams, creating a culture of experimentation, learning, and improving, aligning people, processes, and purpose to drive meaningful change and success, while focusing on value to the customer.Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:Develop and implement supporting capabilities associated with the delivery of best practice program and project management methodologies including but not limited to Agile practices in order to provide efficient and consistent methods, tools, standards, templates and processes.Plan and manage the coordination and implementation of project management solutions to support effective program delivery, whilst ensuring alignment with best practice project design, delivery frameworks (Agile practices), and strategic objectives.Sustain the agile practices in the IT Directorate by providing coaching and training on the agile ceremonies including quarterly planning, sprint planning, standup meetings, showcases and retrospectives.Consult, advise and/or seek feedback from key stakeholders to ensure program and project management methods, tools, standards, templates and processes are well designed, efficient, consistent and simple to use in line with Agile practices.Provide high-level advice and coaching to senior management and key stakeholders relating to effective program and project management methodologies and tools, inline with Agile practices, to enhance business performance and ensure effective decision-making.Research, evaluate risks, and identify trends and opportunities to continually improve best practice methodologies, systems and procedures to support business performance and enhance service delivery.Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate, influence and promote best practice project management and benefits realisation processes.Manage and perform quality assurance reviews and analysis to ensure the correct application of program and project management methodologies is achieved.Capabilities
