The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 45 years.
When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.

We deliver comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, social emotional wellbeing services, aged care and NDIS support to more than 6500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Broome region.

About the role
The Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Officer will be required to work as part of a responsive and dedicated population health team, and will deliver the BRAMS Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program aimed at reducing tobacco smoking rates among Aboriginal communities in the Broome Region.

The Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Officer will work with the Health Promotions Manager to develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based activities, which promote prevention, smoking cessation and community development across the Broome region.

The employee will be required to participate in the development of an individual workplan which will include key result areas associated with their position, and a requirement to demonstrate appropriate behaviours which reflect a commitment to BRAMS values and strategic directions.

About you
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate experience in delivering health-related programs and services to Aboriginal people and communities.

The following is also desirable:
A sound knowledge of Aboriginal communities in the Broome region and relevant organisations, and a demonstrated understanding of health, and social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal people.
Demonstrated experience in project work or management, including planning and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate health related programs and community development strategies.
Computer proficiency and the ability to use basic computer programs, including the capacity to write reports, collect statistical data, develop presentations, and social marketing and promotional activities.
Knowledge and understanding of the harms associated with tobacco smoking and awareness of current prevention and cessation programs.
Ability to facilitate meetings, programs and activities.
Relevant qualifications in health-related fields such as alcohol and other drugs work, mental health or social emotional wellbeing.
