Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) are looking for After Hours Nurse Manager's (AHNM) to join our team.
As an After Hours Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of effective and efficient patient flow throughout CMN and between other facilities, adhering at all times to the principles of Patient Flow.
The AHNM role involves co-ordinating all clinical areas after hours ensuring the safe operation of the hospital including coordination of emergency responses and procurement of safe staffing levels.
The AHNM's lead and manage the clinical services team to provide excellent patient/client care within the service/unit/facility in order to maximise the health outcomes for the community.
The AHNM communicates with members of the Hospital Executive as necessary to ensure safe operation of the Hospital and the appropriate management of incidents and accidents, patient and staff complaints and is a representative of the CMN executive team after hours.
DUTIES: Provide leadership and support to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care, flow and safety across all levels of service provision.
Implement Demand Escalation Management protocols to promote a whole of hospital response in managing patient flow blocks and barriers.
Maintain standards of professional practice and system improvement through reviews of adverse patient outcomes and complaint management.
Act as Disaster Coordinator in the absence of the Hospital Executive.
Respond to all Internal Response Team (IRT) in all emergency codes whilst on duty and act as primary resource as required after hours in regard to clinical services.
ABOUT YOU: Registered Nurse authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and manage complex issues.
Clinical management experience in an acute hospital across a variety of clinical services and/or relevant qualifications or working towards attainment.
Demonstrated ability to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and operate in line with policies, procedures and standards.
Excellent communication skills through a variety of mediums including interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of relevant information technology systems and their application for supporting effective patient flow and patient centred care, workforce management and other areas relevant to the key accountabilities.
Demonstrated workforce management abilities including an understanding of industrial relations and associated processes and procedures.
