The opportunity The Pay Services Team provides a critical function in the day to day operations of ASIO. Payroll Officers use their administrative and organisational skills, along with their attention to detail to ensure Pay Services achieves its deliverables. Role responsibilities As an AE4 Payroll Officer in ASIO, you will:
Undertake payroll services, under limited direction. Develop a good understanding of and comply with relevant legislation and policy requirements. Provide administrative support, including processing, checking and maintaining accurate payroll data in HR systems. Provide advice to a range of stakeholders on payroll queries.
As an AE5 Payroll Officer in ASIO, you will:
Undertake payroll services, under limited direction. Develop a good understanding of, and comply with relevant legislation and policy requirements. Apply your technical and subject matter expertise to provide advice to stakeholders on payroll services and recommend potential solutions to resolve a range of complex payroll issues. Provide advice and guidance to others on complex payroll activities and contribute to pay management systems strategies, procedures and policy. Review and quality control the work undertaken by others.
As an AE6 Payroll Officer in ASIO, you will:
Prepare, deliver and provide advice on pay management, strategy, procedures and policy. Apply technical and subject matter expertise to identify and provide advice on issues impacting on payroll activities and incorporate them in decision-making and team planning. Engage with stakeholders on payroll issues in order to provide and obtain information to resolve payroll issues. Allocate work, resources and tasks, and set work area priorities to meet work area outcomes. Develop and generate information and reporting, detailing business achievements, trends and improvement recommendations within the payroll function. A logical mind with strong numerical skills, attention to detail and an aptitude for finance related tasks. The ability to adapt to and use a range of software. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and liaison skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. For AE5 and AE6 candidates, prior experience (commensurate with level) in a payroll related area. For AE6 candidates, experience in managing and coaching staff. Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
