About the Opportunity Join our passionate team and work closely with the CEO and Executive Directors. In this role, you will support government relations, media engagement, and advocacy efforts to enhance our reputation as a trusted government stakeholder. Key responsibilities include: Build and maintain relationships with government officials at all levels Prepare briefing notes, speeches, and presentations Develop, implement and monitor proactive advocacy campaigns Conduct media monitoring and identify emerging issues and opportunities Respond to government inquiries and submissions Organise and manage political delegations Define and deliver effective media, public relations and issues / crisis management strategies in consultation with the Executive Directors, to manage the reputation and credibility of the organisation effectively. Create communications materials such as media alerts, media releases, and statements Pitch stories and schedule media announcements Support media announcements and coordinate with stakeholders Further develop the Unlock the North advocacy platform Maintain stakeholder and Government contacts database Essential to your success is: Bachelor's degree in PR, marketing, journalism, political science, or related field Relevant experience in media, government, or community relations Strong understanding of the Australian political landscape, especially in North Queensland Proven ability to build relationships with political advisors and industry leaders Experience in project management and planning for political delegations Skilled in researching and preparing policy briefings Effective communication and interpersonal skills Excellent time management and attention to detail Familiarity with traditional and new media Valid driver's license and willingness to travel Why Join Us?
