The Opportunity Are you interested in shaping the future of the City and working across all levels of government to support the delivery of Maribyrnong City Council's key advocacy priorities to ensure our community has equitable access to a range of services, jobs and education?
We are looking for a new Advocacy Advisor with experience in the design and implementation of advocacy strategies, experience in policy analysis and a track record in fostering effective working relationships across government.
Key Responsibilities Provide strategic advice to support the organisation's involvement in a range of regional and government forums and represent Council on these groups as required.Identify issues across the City of Maribyrnong and manage the design and implementation of Council's advocacy strategy to achieve positive outcomes for Council.Provide sound and informed advice on the organisation's advocacy focus and the best way to achieve endorsed priorities, including through formalised partnerships with other organisations.Undertake analysis on a wide range of policy areas, identify trends and provide advice and recommendations on any advocacy impacts.Manage and facilitate introductions between government stakeholders and the City of Maribyrnong, establishing partnerships across all relevant sectors.About You To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
A relevant tertiary qualification in policy development, political science, public relations or similar with demonstrated experience.Experience in partnership management, lobbying, policy making and evaluation and advocacy across all levels of government.Well developed, effective communication skills, particularly written communication skills and the ability to craft a persuasive, evidence-based argument.A demonstrated ability to develop advocacy strategies and campaigns.A demonstrated ability to identify, establish and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.Why Choose Maribyrnong?
