Catholic Education has a network of 18 Catholic schools in the Northern Territory - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools.
Position Summary: The AISS is responsible to the Deputy Director, Teaching and Learning through the Leader of Inclusion Support Services for the provision of professional assistance to Catholic schools with students requiring individualised programs.
The Advisor will: Provide support and advice to Catholic school principals, teachers and support staff to assist them to develop learning and teaching programs for students requiring adjustment plans (APs);Assist Principals, Teachers and support staff to develop appropriate pedagogical skills and learning programs to deliver individualised programs to students with identified special needs.Key responsibilities: Support the enrolment, transition and inclusion of students with special needs to ensure inclusive and equitable practice in line with the Disability Standards for Education (2005);Support staff in Catholic schools to prepare quality adjustment plans (APs);Foster inclusive practice; holistic education in the Catholic tradition, and an appreciation of teaching and learning;Facilitate professional learning within schools and at a CENT systemic level to bring principals, teachers and support staff to a greater understanding of the DDA/DSE, how to differentiate teaching and learning to meet the individual needs of all students;Ensure accurate data and records for students with special needs; and supporting schools to collate accurate and relevant data;Observe WHS practices;Administering, scoring and interpreting appropriate screeners and diagnostic assessments;Ascertainment & Funding – Manage the processing of funding requests for allocated schools and assist in the processing of the data for these schools;Advise & support pre-schools & early learning centres as requested and/or support schools transitioning students between schools and into work, training or further education;Supporting schools/preschools/early learning centres to refer to and access support through Department of Education (DoE), Children's Development Team (CDT) & other support agencies as appropriate including Autism NT, Autism SA & DSANT;This position will involve working with children.
