The region is known for its stunning natural beauty, including the nearby Karijini National Park, Millstream-Chichester National Park, and the Burrup Peninsula with its ancient rock art. The coastal location provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and exploring the beautiful Dampier Archipelago.Karratha is a vibrant town with excellent amenities, including quality schools, healthcare facilities, and a range of recreational activities. The area is also a gateway to some of Western Australia's most iconic tourist destinations, such as Exmouth, Coral Bay and Broome which are all within driving distance, making it an ideal place for both work and leisure.About the roleWe are looking for an Advisor Environment to join our HSEC Team at Dampier Port and DSL. In this role, you will assist to enable Rio Tinto Iron Ore to deliver its operational requirements in a responsible and compliant manner through dedicated asset based environmental and heritage support.Reporting to the HSEC Manager, you will:Support HSEC Managers to maintain environmental and heritage compliance and commitments.Support the HSEC change-management process, including performance rituals/cadences (PRC) and other opportunities for simplification to ensure aligned and functional environmental and heritage capability results.Implement site-based environment and heritage first line assurance activities, critical control verifications and assessment of effectiveness.Participate and coach the asset in risk reviews, risk assessments, incident response and event investigations for environmental and heritage matters.Review monitoring outcomes, maintain data management systems and support the compilation of external statutory reports.Identify and escalate potential non-compliances, non-conformance, emerging risks and improvement opportunities to HSEC Manager and other key Operational stakeholders as required.Co-ordinate and support execution of contractor management.Provide technical support to the asset through internal environmental approval assessments and implementation of the HSEQ Management System.Support environment and heritage field investigations and provide site-based support for fieldwork readiness as required.Support the development of BMPs and IHMP submissions, and delivery of AR approvals within areas of existing traditional owner consent.Assist with management of Archaeological repositories and other assets (heritage signage, delineation) as per annual plan.Build and Implement the asset annual plan as allocated.Build strong relationships with key operational and functional partners.Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices and inter-site collaboration.Contribution to team culture initiatives.What you'll bringA fantastic attitude & ability to work independently or within a team environment.Capacity to and drive to work in a dynamic and fast paced working environment.Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset.Strong attitude towards safety and improvement.Understanding of environment and/or heritage legislation, associated risks and management responses in an operational setting.Ability to influence through written and verbal communication.Experience working with Traditional Owners / Indigenous groups is highly regarded.Experience with environmental management systems and associated continual approval or assurance processes such as but not limited to ARC's, GIS.Experience in undertaking surveys, inspections, and monitoring for environmental and/or heritage matters.Archeological or Environmental Science degree or background.If you are excited about the role and think you have what it takes but your experience doesn't align 100% we still want to hear from you.What we offerBe recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress.A work environment where safety is always the number one priority.A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto.Full relocation provided to Western Australia from elsewhere in Australia.A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive bonus.Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family.Attractive share ownership plan.Company provided insurance cover.Extensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging options.Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions.Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support.Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave, cultural leave).Work on Country with a residential role which offers company housing and financial support with living expenses including rent and utilities (power and water).To better suit different family needs, our paid parental leave approach gives all parents the option to take 18 weeks of paid leave after a new child arrives – at a time that suits them.Exclusive employee discounts including hotel stays, banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more.We are committed to elevating Indigenous voices and increasing cultural knowledge in our business.
