Atlas Iron is an Australian owned Iron Ore company, mining and exporting direct shipping ore from its operations in WA's Pilbara Region. Between our Mt Webber, Sanjiv Ridge, Miralga Creek and the new McPhee Creek operations, we are also expanding into exciting new areas for the future. To support our expanding operations, we are seeking applications for an outstanding environmental professional to make a difference in our growing team.
About the role Atlas Iron has an exciting opportunity for an Advisor Approvals and Compliance to support the Specialist Approvals and Compliance in securing environmental approvals across all Atlas' operations. This initially will be a full-time, maximum term contract till 30 June 2026.
The primary purpose of this role is to support regulatory environmental approvals and compliance by:
Develop and maintain primary and secondary environmental approvalsProvide technical and other environmental advice to support approvalsSupport fit-for-purpose approvals and compliance capabilities and processes within the business.Reporting into the Specialist Approvals and Compliance, the main responsibilities of the role include:
Support the development, maintenance and execution of environmental approval documents across all Atlas sites, ensuring activities align with regulatory requirements.Undertake Environmental Impact Assessments to identify potential risks and provide advice on recommended mitigation strategies.Represent Atlas Iron with all external engagements pertaining to environmental and compliance matters.Maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring that projects stay on track and within the allocated resources and report on progress.Support the Environment team to ensure all environmental legal obligations and commitments, including regulatory reporting and monitoring are met for Atlas operational sites.Assist with coordinating environmental contractors across various Atlas sites.Promote environmental awareness, assessment, and management processes across the broader business.Offer technical expertise and stay up to date with industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements, contributing valuable insights for effective environmental management.Review and maintain environmental management and compliance documentation, including environmental management plans, monitoring plans, environment, legal obligations register, risk register and activity planners.Support the development, maintenance and execution of mine closure plans, ensuring activities align with regulatory requirements.Support the Environmental Management System by contributing to environmental management plans, monitoring plans, environmental procedures, legal obligations, commitment registers, risk registers, and activity planners, ensuring comprehensive and effective environmental oversight is in place.About you You will be a dynamic, self-starter with plenty of enthusiasm and align with our Values of Excellence, Indomitable Spirit, Agility, Trust and Win-Win. To be successful in this role, you will have:
Completion of an Environmental Science Degree (or equivalent).Experience (2+ years) gained from within the resources sector working in an approvals and compliance capacity.Relevant experience and or sound understanding of environmental approval processes pertaining to Commonwealth and State Environmental Approvals.Proven experience in applying environmental legislation relevant to mining practices.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including stakeholder liaison and report writing.A collaborative and team oriented approach with a focus on delivering business outcomes.Knowledge of environmental baseline assessment requirements to support the planning of approvals.Contribute to sustainable mining by advising on approvals and compliance matters.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across diverse expert disciplines to inform approval development.About Joining Atlas Iron provides a competitive remuneration package including attractive incentive programs, flexible work arrangements, genuine fun friendly team culture, and career development opportunities.
