About the role The External Engagement team sits within the External Engagement division of Australian Red Cross. It is responsible for enabling the organisation to engage effectively with external stakeholders from across the government, academic and not-for-profit sectors.
As Adviser – External Engagement you will support the organisation primarily in its engagement with government. This will include working across Australian Red Cross to confirm and prioritise policy and funding proposals to be pursued by Australian Red Cross. These will be aligned to our strategy and may be related to any of our focus areas (Emergency Services, Migration, Community Programs, International Programs, International Humanitarian Law).
You will coordinate efforts across the organisation to identify policy opportunities – for example, upcoming parliamentary inquiries, elections, and government budget processes – and to identify funding opportunities – for example, grants and tenders.
Your role will include providing technical advice and support to subject matter experts across Australian Red Cross to form compelling and persuasive grant and tender applications, providing quality assurance of applications and submitting applications on behalf of the organisation. You will assist in tracking the outcomes of grant and tender processes, and embed feedback and lessons learned into ongoing practice.
What you will bring Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, the ability to assess policy and funding proposals against organisational and government priorities, to identify and leverage opportunities to realise mutually beneficial outcomes, and to evaluate outcomes to produce lessons learned.Experience in, or exposure to at least one of the Australian Red Cross focus areas (Emergency Services, Migration, Community Programs, International Programs, International Humanitarian Law), in a grants and tenders context.Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in grant and tender development/management.Superior organisational, coordination and planning skills.Ability to work with learning and development experts to translate the knowledge and expertise into training and guidance that grows organisational capability.Ability to work under general direction from senior employees and work with and lead teams and people from diverse backgrounds and create a collaborative working environment.Benefits that act for you, while you act for humanity Financial wellbeing: In addition to your salary, you can take advantage of salary packaging that could provide you with a great way to reduce the amount of tax you pay - and get more from your salary.
