ABC is seeking a dynamic and passionate Local Reporter to join our Audio Content team on a contract full-time basis.
Based in Parramatta, this exciting role offers an opportunity to engage local audiences through compelling, real-time news stories and feature reporting.
The Job In this exciting role, you'll be at the forefront of digital storytelling, creating captivating content for radio and online platforms that resonates with our diverse audience.
Your primary responsibility will be to uncover and share compelling stories from the heart of Western Sydney, shedding light on the issues, events, and personalities that shape the region.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to journalistic excellence, you'll conduct in-depth research, cultivate strong relationships with local sources, and craft engaging narratives that bring the community to life.
You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of producers, editors, and multimedia professionals, ensuring your work reaches the widest possible audience across various digital platforms.
Identify suitable leads from talkback calls, SMS and Social Media messages to develop original, high-quality news and feature stories.
Generate original stories that drive the Sydney agenda and feed into on-air programs.
Select, write, and publish digital versions of broadcast stories.
Position Description: 50063211 LOCAL REPORTER DIGITAL.pdf About You You'll have a journalism background with a keen interest in local news and audio storytelling, and a natural curiosity and a proactive approach to finding stories that matter to local audiences.
You'll also have: Accomplished writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that capture the essence of local communities.
Accomplished editorial skills Proficiency in audio editing software and a working knowledge of digital media platforms.
Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
A collaborative spirit and a willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams.
