Employment Type: Temporary Various Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID : CAM21858 Job Field - Intensive Care - Retrieval Medicine NSW Ambulance as part of the NSW Ministry of Health operates a mobile health service for the community of NSW providing emergency and non-emergency health care, retrieval and specialist transport services; major event planning and response; and community education. It is one of the largest Ambulance services in the world servicing a population in excess of 7.5 million, employing approximately 4,200 people and about 385 volunteers at more than 300 locations across NSW, operating a fleet of more than 1400 Ambulance and other vehicles, with an annual expenditure budget in excess of $800 million. NSW Ambulance is a division of the NSW Ministry of Health. The Health Services Act (1997) and Part 4 Health Services Regulation 2013 is the legislative framework under which NSW Ambulance functions. Health Emergency and Aeromedical Services consists of the Health Emergency Management Unit and Aeromedical & Medical Retrieval Services (AMRS). AMRS provide aeromedical and critical care medical retrieval services for the community and consists of three sections: Aeromedical Control Centre; helicopter and medical retrieval operations; fixedwing operations Helicopter operations are undertaken in two zones -this advertises Southern Zone positions that operates from Bankstown, Wollongong and Orange helicopter bases What you'll be doing To provide high quality critical care to acutely ill and injured patients, both in the prehospital environment and during interhospital transfers with the Retrieval Service. To ensure organisational objectives are achieved. To ensure effective communication within the aeromedical crew and with the Aeromedical Control Centre as well as the referring and receiving medical staff. To participate in Clinical Governance and other non-clinical activities related to the position, including participation in research in consultation with the Research Lead MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia Advanced Trainee or Fellowship qualification in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia or Intensive Care. Overseas applicants must fulfill these requirements as well as be at least post-graduate year 5 (or completed their training) at the time of application. Ability to competently care for critically ill and injured patients in the prehospital and out-of-hospital environment with minimal resources and backup. Ability to perform duties competently, both physically and psychologically, in the prehospital and inter-hospital environments, including helicopter winching. Ability to safely adapt clinical practice to the environment. Superior verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate concisely, diplomatically and effectively with a variety of health and non-health professionals. Proven ability to comply with organisational policy and procedures, especially those related clinical governance and to safety.
