Advanced Scientist IT and Business Intelligence Seeking the best suited applicants (x2) to join our team of dedicated Health Professionals for two permanent full time roles. The Advanced Scientist IT and Business Intelligence will actively undertake complex IT business analysis, pathology results interfacing, troubleshoot, provide information, laboratory advice, and support to clients through the development and reengineering of business processes, the technical specifications and implementation, design and build of a solution including its associated infrastructure and current and new clinical interfaces.
The Advanced Scientist reports to the Chief Scientist IT Operations, Pathology Queensland and will also work under the guidance of the Operations Manager Statewide Enablement Team, and the Senior Power BI Developer.
Building strong scientific working relationships with Discipline Working Parties (DWPs), internal and external customers and other work teams to promote multidisciplinary collaboration and drive the delivery of quality and connected investment governance, appraisal, and business analysis advisory services.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Significant Public Pathology experience as a Medical Scientist desired.
Very high-level understanding of the interfaces, technical, scientific, instrumental, and clinical aspects of pathology laboratory operations, and the provision of pathology services.
Experience with AUSLAB, IEMR, Viewer and My Health Record and Quality systems is highly desirable.
Demonstrated clinical leadership ability and contribution to the professional development of others.
Proven ability to solve complex scientific and pathology interface problems in the workplace.
High level communication skills and ability to maintain professional relationships in the workplace.
Ability to document, lead and implement process improvement and client liaison activities.
Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
Experience working with BI technology and applications such as predominantly Power BI, SaS, AUSLAB, DSS Necto, Qlik and other business intelligence tools desirable. Industry certification preferred.
In depth understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) in large production data warehouse environment.
Experience in Pathology Informatics and Data management, Programming and Documentation regarded.
Demonstrated experience with business process modelling and improvement techniques as well as identify requirements, write specifications, manage, and trace requirements, conduct investment analysis and work with vendors, enterprise architects and subject matter experts within a Digital and ICT context. High level of stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to prepare proposals, work packages and business cases to influence the decision making of senior staff.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a diplomatic approach and the ability to liaise and relate to a wide range of stakeholders including senior and executive stakeholders.
Motivated and proactive with the ability to manage and coordinate work within a multi-disciplinary team with limited supervision.
Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
