About the Role Melba Support Services are actively recruiting for a 2IC DDSO2/A to join our team on a Permanent Part time basis in Bairnsdale.
As part of our team in Gippsland, you will work alongside the House Supervisor implementing quality services to the people we support and guide, mentor and support the staff.
You will work alongside people we support, their families/guardians and staff to ensure that the people we support receive the highest level of care.
This is a Supported Independent Living house caring for 6 adults with varying levels of supports.
This home is a sleepover model with a ratio of three staff and a rotating fortnightly roster.
All individuals at this home have specific care needs including but not limited to behaviour support, manual handling, mental health support, mealtime assistance, medication administration and epilepsy management.
Community access is also important as the individuals in this home enjoy a variety of activities and have hobbies such as going to the cinema, training to the city, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
Responsibilities Assist the House Supervisor with the operations of the Supported Independent Living service with regular reporting to the Operations ManagerManage all aspects of team performance including rosters, performance management, records management, quality, and complianceLead and plan support for people with disabilities within their home and community, based on the goals of individual support plansSupport initiatives that allow for individual choice, control and independence within their shared home environmentAdvocate within the broader community for inclusion, participation, and respect for rights for supported peopleConvey information to people we support and their families to help meet daily needs and plan support for future requirementsAdminister medication treatments, therapies or seek assistance according to protocolsAbout you Hold or be working towards an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or equivalent qualification (desirable but not mandatory)Experience and knowledge in the field of disability and ability to apply policies and processes.Specialised and contemporary understanding of disability and an ability to apply this theoretical knowledge to client support.Understanding and familiarity with NDIS funding and planning processesUnderstanding of person-centred active support, positive behaviour support and its implementation within a diverse team.Passionate about supporting people with mental health and intellectual disabilityKnowledge of and skill with coaching, supervision, and planning practices.Competencies using Microsoft Office software programsYou will also bring with you or be willing to obtain A current NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check (we can support you through the process of obtaining one or both checks if you don't already have them).Current unrestricted Australian Driver's LicenseCurrent First Aid Certificate with CPREvidence of COVID-19 vaccination status, including boosterWhy Join Us?
