Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS TrustAn exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the safeguarding adults team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust working at the Southport Hospital site.The post holder will provide a comprehensive, professional and effective administrative service to the team, including the processing of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications.
The role will also include taking minutes at meetings and data collection.
Flexibility and confidentiality are key requirements of this role and a calm and friendly manner when dealing with enquiries and external organisations.Please be aware, that we may close a vacancy earlier than stated, should a sufficient number of applications be received, you are therefore advised to apply at your earliest convenience.Main duties of the jobProvide comprehensive confidential administrative service to the Assistant Director of Nursing Safeguarding and the Safeguarding Adults Team, including the processing of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisations.The role will include the necessitating of contacts with external bodies, clinical, nursing, management, executive and clerical staff.Some cross cover may be required for the safeguarding adults and safeguarding children administrative support when colleagues are absent.Job responsibilitiesCLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESTo receive sometimes complex and highly sensitive communications on behalf of the Adults Safeguarding Team and be able to advise, prioritise and share information appropriately.To attend team and departmental meetings as necessary.To always work in a flexible way to enable delivery of the services.To undertake any other routine duties that may be required and are appropriate to the post holder's band, experience, and competence.ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIESTo provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Adults Safeguarding Team and Associate Director of Safeguarding.To maintain the administration of the services, including maintaining databases, data input, ensuring all data held is accurate and kept up to date.Confident use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other IT programmes as required.To be responsible for processing the daily Deprivation of Liberty Authorisations and maintaining the relevant databases.Retrieve patient information as directed by the Safeguarding Team to support information sharing as required with the Local Authority and partners.To prepare letters, e-mails, and general communications.To prepare and distribute agendas for meetings, take minutes of meetings, distribute minutes and other papers.To assist in the development of policies and protocols relevant to the services.Provide data for the quarterly and annual returns for local Safeguarding Adult Boards, the Integrated Care Board, and the Care Quality Commission.TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIESTo support the team in working towards the most cost-effective service always prioritising patient safety.RESEARCH & AUDITTo provide data that contributes to the Safeguarding audits.To support the delivery of audit and survey material.Person SpecificationQualificationsEducated to GCSE standard or equivalent and/or equivalent experienceRSA II typing or equivalentECDLKnowledge & ExperienceKnowledge relating to procedures and practices in relation to safeguardingExperience of working in an office environmentPrevious NHS experienceSkills & AbilitiesAbility to work as a member of a teamExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work on own initiative and rearrange priorities as required.Be able to provide and receive complex and sensitive information and be able to communicate with all stakeholders in safeguarding serviceUp to date knowledge of Data ProtectionFlexible working approachOrganisational skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office Software PackageA professional outlook and ability to inspire confidence in service usersDemonstrates an understanding of client confidentialityCommitment to self-development to meet the requirements of the roleOtherAbility to move from one activity to another at short notice in response to changing prioritiesSpeaking to distressed or emotional people, either by telephone or face to faceRequired to spend most of the working day sitting in front of a VDU and/or long periods on the telephoneDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.Employer nameMersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
