Sheriff's Assistant
Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of PermanencyDetails: Applications are being sought for Sheriff's Assistants within the ACT Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's Assistants are predominately customer service focused, and people with skills related to interactions with customers is highly sought.
There is minimal requirement for computer work.
We are NOT security officers, and we have no role in relation to detainees.
These positions may be exposed to sensitive and/or traumatic situations and material.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: To be successful in the role, you will need to possess excellent customer service and communication skills, be self-motivated, respond quickly to situations, have sound judgement and professional resilience, and be an effective team member.
This is not a security position.
Note: There are several temporary positions available from 20 January 2025 until 16 January 2026 with the possibility of permanency.
Due to operational requirements of the role, hybrid working arrangements are not suitable to these positions.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

This session will involve:
An introduction to the court environment;A tour of the Law Courts precinct;An introduction to the ACT Sheriff's Office;A viewing of court proceedings; andA mock exercise highlighting the functions of the Sheriff's Office.Applicants who wish to continue to be considered for employment will then be offered a formal interview and will be interviewed by the panel.
