Our Embassy in Canberra represents Norway in Australia, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Samoa, and Vanuatu.
We currently have a vacancy for a 100% position as Administrative Officer from 1st February 2025.
Job Description Assistant to the Embassy's accountant in the following areas:Timely processing of bill paymentsMaintenance of accurate financial recordsHandling GST refund claims and related paperworkGeneral administrative duties as requestedThe ideal candidate will have a good understanding of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail. Experience with accounting software and previous administrative experience will be an advantage.
The Embassy offers a great work environment with highly motivated colleagues and varied, interesting tasks. Training will be provided as needed.
The position requires flexibility to handle different tasks, assisting with both accounting and administrative duties. You will contribute to the efficient operation of the Embassy, ensuring that key functions are completed in a timely manner.
Selection Criteria Ability to complete a wide variety of tasks efficiently and on time.Strong attention to detail, particularly when performing repetitive tasks, and the ability to switch between tasks at different stages to respond to competing demands.Ability to work as a professional and positive team member with good communication and interpersonal skills, including face-to-face and telephone client interaction, as well as written correspondence.Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage.Proficiency in IT-based and technical work processes, including experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Word and Excel.The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with local regulations. The applicant must have Australian citizenship or a valid work permit for Australia. There will be a probationary period of one month. Physical attendance at the workplace is required.
