Location:The Department of Health is seeking interest for a fixed term full time Administrative Officer to join the Child Health and Parenting Services (CHaPS) team in Burnie.
The Team: The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0 to 5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals, and connections with other early childhood service providers.
The CHaPS deliver a screening and surveillance program offering Child Health Assessments at key developmental periods in a child's life, enabling the early identification of concerns and early activation of intervention either by CHaPS or through a referral to an appropriate service.
The CHaPS employ an evidence-based approach to working with families, founded upon respect for and encouragement of the expertise and self-determination of parents.
The Role: Provide a high level of administrative and clerical support within Child Health and Parenting Services (CHaPS).
Assist with the supervision and coordination of CHaPS human, physical, and financial activities.Provide comprehensive reception, clerical, and computer-based administrative support within CHaPS, including acting as minute secretary for meetings as required.Liaise with clients and staff, including dealing with more complex enquiries in person, by phone, and in writing.Assist with the administrative/clerical tasks associated with Departmental assets including buildings, equipment, and vehicles.Complete training to act as a fire warden if required and organise emergency procedures within a designated area as the need arises.Undertake Right to Information and other document reproduction as required.You will need: Ability to undertake supervisory duties and support administrative staff to ensure efficient administrative support for CHaPS.Highly developed computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, data processing, databases, spreadsheets, and information retrieval utilising a range of computer software programs.Demonstrated high level administrative skills including the ability to provide confidential, high-quality administrative support.Details of appointment: Fixed term full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2025. Notwithstanding, hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
