Administrative Assistant - Michael Rice Centre for Haematology & Oncology Job no: 883110 Work type: Full time Location: Adelaide CBD Categories: Administration and Clerical Women's and Children's Health Network, Paediatric Medicine, North Adelaide Classification ASO2 – $58,709 - $63,154 Full-time - Long-Term Contract (up to December 2025) About the Opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Medicine team as a Administration Assistant, where you will be responsible for: Understand the complex needs of Haematology/Oncology clients and liaise with the Clinical Nurse regarding patient arrivals and urgent needs.
Facilitate accurate and timely patient telephone/counter bookings, considering the complexities of the patient group.
Organize appropriate appointment times and negotiate with departments to minimize hospital visits for patients and families.
Organize Theatre/procedure bookings efficiently and in a timely manner.
Ensure smooth department operations by preventing overbooking of clinics.
Prepare clinics by ensuring accuracy of clinic lists and availability of case notes and documentation.
Understand the relationships between Haematology/Oncology inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment services.
Maintain adequate stock of materials and equipment, managing purchasing procedures.
Order stationery and office supplies using iProcurement Oracle and Basware.
Assist in resolving conflicts and difficulties.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Knowledge of medical terminology with familiarity with hospital-based information systems.
Awareness of confidentiality and information security policies and procedures.
Previous experience in a typing/secretarial role with proficient word processing and keyboard skills.
Strong communication skills with consumers, staff, external agencies, and the public, both face-to-face and over the phone.
Ability to exercise judgment and respond to unusual circumstances while assisting with inquiries under continuous pressure.
Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to set priorities, work to deadlines, and perform duties effectively with high accuracy.
