About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has an exciting opportunity for an Administration Support Officer to join the team in a permanent full-time basis.
Mater continues the Mission of the founding Sisters of Mercy to offer compassionate service to the sick and needy. Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has been providing excellence in clinical and pastoral care to the people of Bundaberg and its surrounds since 1946.
Located within the medical precinct on Bourbong Street, our hospital is a 59-bed facility featuring four operating theatres, a fully equipped day surgery unit, and a wide range of specialist clinical services.
Salary range: $28.67 - $33.28 (Admin Level 2) and $35.45 - $39.62 (Admin Level 3) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900.
What you'll be doing
Provide conduit to Administration function throughout the hospital, ensuring hospital-wide Administration procedures are adhered to within the respective ward/clinical area.
Ensure patient records, results, and other related documents are current, appropriately labelled, and correctly filed.
Maintain currency of patient management systems, electronic or hardcopy, to include, but not limited to, patient details, diagnostic related grouping, hospitalisation status, and location in the appropriate systems.
Facilitate the completion of all necessary certificates and documentation to ensure the patient's billing cycle is completed.
Facilitate the completion of all necessary discharge documentation for the patient's medical record and ensure it is appropriately tracked and processed for the receipt of the Clinical Coding team within the stated parameters and timeframes.
Support the revenue team by undertaking financial viability checks and facilitating the collection and receipting of expenses that are the responsibility of the patient when required.
Accept internal and external telephone calls, in-person enquiries, and electronic communication and redirect or respond appropriately in a manner that instils confidence in service capability and professionalism.
Contribute to pre-admission and admission processes for planned or unplanned admissions as required.
Maintain necessary stock and imprest levels under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, or equivalent, as required and ensure these storage areas remain serviceable and orderly.
Ensure the nursing station is in a serviceable and orderly condition at all times with high regard to the storage of patient information.
About you
To be successful in your application you will have:
Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
High level of customer service, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organised manner.
Accurate data entry skills with a high-level computer proficiency, including in Microsoft Office and departmental databases.
Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Certificate III in Health Administration, or similar is desirable but not essential.
