The primary purpose of this position is to provide a high level of administrative support to the Economy, Visitation & Place Branch.
The role provides effective internal and external quality customer service and contributes to the implementation and development of administrative processes and systems.

This position will be required to liaise with staff, at all levels of the organisation including Councillors who interact with Council's Economic Development, Visitation and Place Making portfolios.
Key External Relationships:

Residents, ratepayers, visitors, Chambers of Commerce and business representatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for: Providing quality and effective customer service and responding to a broad range of complex enquiries; Providing specialised and general administrative support to the Manager, Economy, Tourism & Place, Program Leaders and other branch officers as required, including those located remotely at Council's Visitor Information Centres; Coordinating the Council Report and Council Resolution and Councillor Enquiry processes for the Branch; Assisting the Manager in monitoring branch budgets and quarterly reporting on Delivery Program and Operational Plan actions; Assisting the Manager in coordinating the annual budget development process and Service Business Plans; Coordinating Customer Service Requests for the Branch and where necessary preparing written responses to a wide range of enquiries, some of which may be complex, using research techniques; Coordinating and monitoring of HPE correspondence for the Branch; Liaising with staff at all levels, management, and other key customers and contacts to coordinate and follow-up on a range of activities; Drafting and presenting simple reports, documents and presentations; Contributing to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.

In addition, you are required at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.
COMMUNICATION The position involves communication, verbal and written, at all levels within the Directorate and across Council, and contact with the community, government agencies and businesses.
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are required at a high level to enhance and support professional and technical staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING The position makes decisions in relation to its work priorities within agreed projects and guidelines.
Judgement and problem solving are used to initiate change and improve work arrangements and to assess a number of options for process improvements.
AUTHORITY The position is fully accountable for daily decisions made in conjunction with responsibilities, and accountable for managing and monitoring administrative tasks associated with the Branch and where possible improve work procedures.
The position is required to work across the Branch and the organization and an ability to be autonomous is critical.
SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL

An extensive range of experience (typically gained over a period of around 5 years) in an administration role or equivalent demonstrated competencies.
Relevant tertiary qualifications at the TAFE Certificate III level (ie 600 hours face-to-face learning), or equivalent demonstrated competencies gained through on-the-job learning.
Demonstrated highly developed core and functional competencies in areas such as: Advanced use of a range of appropriate/relevant computer applications (e.g.
Word, Excel, Internet, etc.
); Composing and preparing non-standard reports and correspondence; Providing specialised customer service; Planning and organising work priorities with a commitment to continuous improvement; Coaching, guiding, supporting and developing other staff and/or the team.
A high level of autonomy and ability to meet competing deadlines; Proven ability to work within a team environment and build rapport with various stakeholders both internal and external to the Branch; Experience in working in an environment of ongoing change; Sound knowledge and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety principles and their application in the workplace.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in the areas of Tourism and Events Management.
Class C Drivers' License.
