The opportunity The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics. Enabled by cutting-edge technology, it promises to have a major impact on society, in science and beyond.
In Australia, the SKAO is collaborating with CSIRO to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia on Wajarri Yamaji Country.
The Traditional Owners and native title holders, the Wajarri Yamaji, have gifted CSIRO with the traditional name Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara for the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, home to the SKA-Low telescope. The traditional name means 'sharing sky and stars' in the Wajarri language.
The Administration Officer will provide administrative support to the Science Operations Centre (SOC) in Perth. The project is in the start-up phase and this position will contribute to the establishment of administrative systems and processes relevant to the project in the new facility. The SOC is the workspace for our science operations, business enabling, construction and computer and software teams.
Your duties will include: Provide practical and general administrative support to the Perth team and in support of key internal and external stakeholders. Assist the SKA-Low Executive Assistant to coordinate internal and external meetings or events, including booking rooms, resources, travel, transport, equipment, and catering. Assist the SKA-Low Executive Assistant in supporting the operation of the SOC including managing supplies and merchandise, vehicles, and visitor access. Assist the SKA-Low Executive Assistant in arranging cultural awareness inductions for contractors and staff and monitoring refresher requirements. Prepare meeting minutes and initiate follow-up action. Maintain electronic document management systems and procedures. Location: Perth, Western Australia
Salary: AU$70,874 - AU$90,202 plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Reference: 98249 To be considered you will need: Essential Higher education or equivalent relevant work experience in business administration. Demonstrated high-level skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to quickly learn new systems. Highly developed time management and organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and escalate issues as appropriate. Demonstrated ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proven judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality and respond appropriately to sensitive issues. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, positively contributing to the team environment. Desirable An Australian Class 'C' driver's licence (or equivalent). Experience interacting with project-related and broader community stakeholders. Involved in project start-up or establishing administration systems for new regional offices.
