Our Administration Officer position is not just about sitting at a desk and churning through your day. This is a versatile role where one minute you'll be answering phones and emails, the next you will be shipping life-changing parcels, as well as walking to the shops or post-office, and even making lunch for our small team. We are excited to welcome our new Administration Officer to make us a team of 4, and we want someone who will love what they do as much as we do.
Who will you be working with? We are Backpack Beds for Homeless, a locally founded charity that has developed innovative sleeping solutions donated to those who are sleeping without shelter. We function as a service provider partnering to provide Backpack Beds to over 1,000 homeless service providers nationally. We believe there is no greater gift, than giving someone back their dignity.

Our Administration Officer will work closely with our Administrator to action all things administrative. Our days are always so different, and we take a lot of joy in providing a high standard of support to those in need. We are looking for someone who has strong computer skills, is confident taking and making calls, writing emails, managing donations and even conducting bookkeeping tasks.
We require full-time working hours based on site at our office in Cleveland from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday because people without shelter, and our network of 1,000 service providers, rely on us to be there for them during these hours.
Key tasks of this role include:
Taking inbound calls and making outbound calls to promote the charity and bring in donationsFielding in-person queries from homeless peopleConducting a wide range of administrative tasks, including bookkeeping tasksProcessing social enterprise and charity shipping orders for national and international shipmentsPresenting to audiences ranging from RSL clubs to Corporate organisationsRestocking the office with food, clothing, toiletries, and other provisions.Essential skills & experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in AdministrationLeadership and/or sales skills to negotiate, influence and communicate wellHigh level computer skills with solid experience making and working with Excel spreadsheetsGreat people skills to engage with homeless people all the way up to high-level corporate sponsorsExperience in an unpredictable environment where no day is the same.Desirable skills & experience: Outbound sales and cold calling experienceExposure to accounts payable/receivable or bookkeepingExperience engaging with stakeholders at all levels of a businessCompetency with Mac, PC and QuickBooks.Whether you're 5 years experienced, or 30 years experienced – we encourage you to apply if you are looking for a job that will keep you busy whilst helping people!
