ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION Basic Rights Queensland (BRQ) provides information, advice, advocacy and free legal services statewide in relation to social security, disability discrimination and women in the workplace. Advice is provided to all, casework, including representation, is provided only to vulnerable clients who are unable to advocate for themselves. BRQ undertakes community legal education activities to assist people to understand their rights and legal processes and to provide community workers with the knowledge they need to support their clients through them. ABOUT THE ROLE The Administration Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative support to the Leadership Team, Corporate Services Team and the wider BRQ organisation. This role covers all areas of administration is pivotal in supporting BRQ's day to day operations.
Role Responsibilities: Manage day to day office administration, including IT support, ordering office supplies, kitchen duties, mail collection, office maintenance and cleanlinessProvide first class customer service by being a first point of contract for phone and email enquiries and office visitorsManage and book travel arrangements for staff, including management of cab charge registerSupport the Administration Manager with HR processes, such as onboarding and offboarding of employees, secondees, students and volunteers, and assist with organising trainingSupport event management and planning across the organisation, including setup and cateringProvide assistance with comms and marketing, including internal and external communication and management of resources and merchandiseSupport finance processes, including accounts payable and receivable, petty cash and credit card reconciliations and asset managementProvide administrative and secretarial support to the Management Committee, including preparation for bimonthly meetings and the annual general meetingOther duties as directed by the Administration Manager and Finance and Corporate Services DirectorSupport effective, positive and open communication between all staff membersEnsure quality standards are adhered to and that opportunities to improve or streamline systems and processes are raised appropriatelyContribute to a positive workplace culture, championing organisational values and contributing to the overall development of BRQWork in a healthy and safe manner and encourage others to do the same, including adherence to all relevant policies and processesABOUT YOU Demonstrated administrative experience working in a fast-paced environment, including strong decision-making and problem-solving skillsSuperior organisational and time-management skills with an ability to manage and coordinate a range of office functions and projectsDemonstrated ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritise and adapt quickly to changeThe ability to confidently handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional mannerThe ability to work flexibly within a team and communicate effectively with people at all levels to ensure smooth, efficient and on-time operation of the organisationCommitment to social justice principles, including an understanding of the issues and concerns faced by women in employment, people with disability and social security recipients, cultural competence and an understanding of intersectionalityExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholdersHigh level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel and a good working knowledge of IT systems and processesADDITIONAL BENEFITS Part-time role of 30 hours worked over 4-5 daysA supportive and inclusive workplaceA generous EBA with above Award pay rates and 12.5% SuperannuationChristmas shutdown leave in addition to 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)Excellent tax-free salary packaging options availableFlexible hours for work/life balanceGreat location, minutes from central stationHOW TO APPLY Click 'Apply now' to submit your resume and a cover letter addressing how you demonstrate the key responsibilities of the role and why Basic Rights Queensland is a good fit for you.
