CANEGROWERS Mackay is an autonomous but integral part of the network of CANEGROWERS companies in Queensland.
Primary activities of the Mackay company include: Advocating for growers in the agri-political arena Providing guidance and advice on a range of industry matters Negotiating supply contracts with milling companies on behalf of members Enhancing commercially focused agribusiness development Promoting growth of the company and its membership Supporting insurance services PURPOSE OF THE POSITION This position is responsible for supporting our local membership services, secretarial, and administrative services to local sugar services. The team also provides crop insurance and undertakes negotiations on cane supply agreements, lease agreements, transport, infrastructure, government, and industry liaison as a service to our members. The overall objective of the position is to ensure that the company promotes and serves the needs of its members, meeting the strategic outcomes decided by the Board and District Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to specific strategic matters set by the Board and the District Manager, the Administration Manager will be accountable for overseeing the Administration/Grower Services team and taking on full responsibility for tasks during staff absences. The main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
Maintenance of the Membership Database Provision of secretarial support to Management Preparation and distribution of meeting papers Completion of reports Provision of services and assistance to the cane farming client base Crop Insurance Claims Lease Agreements of cane land Additional administrative duties as required SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Leadership and management skills A strong focus on working efficiently in a team environment Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders The ability to carry out work in a timely and efficient manner with close attention to detail Be eager to adopt new scopes of work A sound knowledge of the suite of Microsoft Software programs Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to develop and deliver reports and submissions Experience reporting to a Board - Including collating board papers and minute taking Ability to develop and work within CANEGROWERS' policies and procedures Ability and willingness to maintain ongoing professional development Understanding of government procedures and structures - desirable Good industry knowledge including the challenges and issues facing the industry - desirable REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The position reports to the District Manager Mackay.
