Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is a global leader in conservation, providing hope for Australia's wildlife with a science-informed, land management partnership approach which delivers high impact results.
We protect endangered wildlife in iconic regions such as the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre.
AWC's mission -to deliver effective conservation for all native animal species and their habitats- is achieved by:
Operations - delivering effective large-scale land management including fire management, feral animal control, weed control and infrastructure management.Science - delivering the largest national biological survey program with a focus on measuring the population of indicator species and the extent of threatening processes as well as conducting research on key issues such as feral cat control.Fundraising - mobilising finance (primarily, tax deductible donations) from the general public and philanthropists including through effective communication of field updates from around the AWC estate.About the role: The Administration Assistant will support the region, and be a part-time role (0.8FTE).
Pilliga Sanctuary (Based in Narrabri) has 9 permanent staff, Mallee Cliffs (based in Buronga) has 13 permanent staff, Waulinbakh has 1 permanent staff and Scotia has 4 permanent staff.
Day-to-day operations are overseen by the individual Operations/Sanctuary Manager and science programs by the Regional Ecologist (South-east).
The Administration Assistant reports to the Regional Administration Coordinator (South-east) to support both Operations and Science staff at Mallee Cliffs, Scotia, Pilliga and Waulinbakh.
Key Responsibilities: Provide administrative support to the Operations and Science staff.Assist in the implementation and management of financial processes.Maintain effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.Qualifications and Skills: Highly developed administration skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Intermediate – Advanced experience in the use of MS Word, Excel and email.Proficiency in implementing and working with basic financial management processes, experience using Tech1 and Fulcrum App will be highly regarded.Self-motivation and ability to work independently or as part of a small team as required.An organised approach to work tasks and high level of attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage many tasks in an efficient manner.A background or interest in nature conservation is desirable.Licenses, Certificates and/or Training: Police clearance certificate.PLEASE NOTE: This is a temporary part-time role for 4 days a week based out of the Narrabri office which will ideally commence in late January 2025.
