Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Cooperative (GEGAC) is a not-for-profit, community-controlled organisation located on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. GEGAC provides a comprehensive suite of holistic, culturally appropriate services that support Aboriginal community members throughout their lives—from early childhood to elderly support.

Position Purpose
The Administration Assistant position offers a comprehensive range of administrative and business support services to GEGAC. Reporting to a Senior Manager and/or Administration Manager, the incumbent utilises a solid understanding of administrative functions to deliver effective and efficient support to various business units and projects within the organisation or designated program/division. Additionally, the role contributes to the broader GEGAC administration team, ensuring the seamless operation of daily activities and overall organisational efficiency. This collaborative approach helps maintain a high standard of service and supports the achievement of GEGAC's objectives, all conducted with a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational and communication skills, a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, and a commitment to promoting cultural safety and working to GEGAC values.
Key Selection Criteria
Experience in providing high-level administrative support in a professional office environment. Demonstrated ability to influence and forge working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Evidence of high level of organisational skills and demonstrated time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise tasks to meet competing deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Evidence of ability to think innovatively, be proactive and exercise judgement and decision-making within policy and procedural guidelines. Flexibility to adjust and adapt to changing work demands and routines whilst meeting service commitments. Demonstrated experience and strategies managing confidential and sensitive information. Well-developed presentation skills to prepare, develop and format complex information for presentation and reporting purposes. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, with the ability to easily adapt to new computer applications. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a diversity of colleagues and clients and maintain discretion. High level communication skills, including the ability to draft a range of documentation and apply good proofreading skills to support the team in producing high level documents and reports. Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable)
