Administration and Recruitment Coordinator - UmpiringThe AFL is Australia's premier sporting organisation supporting two constantly evolving national competitions, AFL and AFLW. Our purpose is to progress the game, so everyone can share in its heritage and possibilities.
The Administration and Recruitment Coordinator - Umpiring role is responsible for the ongoing coordination of umpiring department requirements in Northern Tasmania.
The coordinator will play a significant role in supporting the AFL Tasmania Umpire Department (AFLTUD) with ongoing administrative, operational and logistical needs, including coordination of and delivering recruitment and retention programs developed by the AFLTUD to achieve umpire growth targets in Northern Tasmania.
The role is based in Launceston, Tasmania and will focus on building strong relationships with the Northern Umpires association (NWUA), Umpire coaches, clubs and the wider community to support the rapid growth of AFL across Tasmania.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OFKey Accountabilities: Coordinating effective delivery of umpire recruitment programs across the North including, local schools, Women and Girls initiatives, junior umpire programs, Umpire education and talent pathways as a part of the broader umpire strategy across Tasmania.Provide support to local Umpire coaches, entering umpire match day appointments into scheduling platforms as well as coordinating rescheduling unavailable umpires.Collaborate and work closely with local associations on key umpiring matters to ensure a culture of continuous learning and improvement of umpiring.Coordinate payment of umpires in-season.Deliver on AFLTUD umpiring strategy in North Tasmania - with a focus on growing umpiring to new heights.Providing specific dedicated support for the retention of umpires within the local market - reward and recognition initiatives.Delivering other operational requirements (not limited to apparel, equipment management & ground bookings) in collaboration with AFL Tasmania staff and umpiring bodies.Support and contribute to key projects within and outside of core role which contribute to the success of the broader team.OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBERCore Competencies: Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn and contribute a variety of innovative ideas.Engaging interpersonal skills with the willingness to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.Ability to work outside core business hours, inclusive of regional travel as required.Ability to work effectively unsupervised whilst a member of a team.A track record of managing multiple tasks and prioritising projects to ensure timely delivery.Proficient problem-solving skills.Proficiency in use of computers, document presentation and of Microsoft applications.Mandatory: Experience in working with children and young people.Well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.Tasmanian Driver's License.Current Working with Vulnerable Children Check.Desirable: Experience volunteering or working with volunteers.Sound knowledge of AFL or other relevant sporting environment.Strong computer literacy to support AFL program requirements in the region.Qualifications in Sports Coaching / Management, Recreation, Education or equivalent depth of experience.Applications Close: 20 December 2024
