Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor, Veterinary Anaesthesia (Level C/D) $130,810 – $172,657 (full salary scale) per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation will apply. Flexible employer offering 1 x continuing, full-time position, with some rostered out of hours and weekend work required. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist Veterinary Anaesthetist to join the team in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Adelaide. We are seeking a veterinarian who can provide leadership and excellence in clinical service delivery and teaching of anaesthesia to our DVM and Veterinary Technology students. This position will be primarily located at the picturesque Roseworthy campus of the University of Adelaide.
The position will suit an Australian Fellowship or American/European Boarded specialist with a track record in excellence in patient care and a passion for imparting knowledge, teaching and mentoring students to develop their clinical thinking and skills. The appointee will contribute to teaching in veterinary medicine programs through course coordination, lectures, tutorials and clinical rotations. They will also provide advanced anaesthesia services to our clinicians in both the Companion Animal and Large Animal (primarily equine) Hospitals.
Our modern and well-equipped Companion Animal Health Centre (CAHC) and Large Animal Hospital facilities offer a range of services to the general public, ranging from primary opinion, emergency and specialist referral veterinary services. You will find a unique team approach to delivering clinical excellence, working alongside a strong clinical support team of nurses and trainee Veterinary Technologists.
Working in a clinical training environment for final year veterinary students, our passionate and dedicated staff have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the education of the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary technologists by involving students in case management and modelling the highest standards of clinical excellence and professional behaviour.
This role will allow you to expand your specialist expertise in practice in the clinic as well as the classroom, and to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of a Go8 University and South Australia's only veterinary teaching hospital.

To be successful you will need: For appointment at Senior Lecturer (Level C) One or more of the following:A Professional College specialist qualification (Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists). A specialist Diploma from a relevant college of the American or European Boards of Veterinary Specialisation awarded in Internal Medicine or related discipline. Eligibility to sit Board examinations having completed an approved residency. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teaching, supervising and mentoring veterinary students and veterinary technologists within a clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to undertake original and independent research in a related area and supervise clinical research projects and/or postgraduate students. Demonstrated ability to manage a companion animal specialist level service caseload within a private practice or teaching veterinary hospital. Evidence of engagement with relevant professional and industry bodies to advance clinical education. Evidence of an inspirational, altruistic leadership style that promotes a culture of engagement, collaboration, commitment and performance. For appointment to Associate Professor (Level D) you will also need: Evidence of ability to work collaboratively to secure competitive research grants and/or industry funding. Successful applicants are required to hold a qualification in Veterinary Science or an equivalent degree that is acceptable for registration in South Australia.
