Role Description:
This full-time actuarial position can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane and focuses on analysing data from a variety of insurance product lines to drive effective business strategies. You will develop advanced models to evaluate pricing, risk factors, and underwriting results, while collaborating with key stakeholders across departments to implement these strategies. By promoting innovative approaches and refining existing processes, you will play a crucial role in improving data analysis and reporting capabilities. Additionally, you will be involved in monitoring third-party risks, advising on reserving practices, and engaging with auditors to ensure compliance and mitigate potential risks to the organisation. This role will be integral to leading the actuarial function internally, consulting with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities: Analyse claims and premium data across multiple insurance product lines;Create and refine models to project underwriting performance and results;Provide recommendations to stakeholders on pricing, risk selection, and performance improvement strategies;Assist with pricing changes and monitor their ongoing impact;Collaborate on the development of innovative processes and improvements in automation;Provide reserving advice and support for the claims division;Work with IT and finance teams to enhance reporting, automation, and systems capabilities;Engage with both internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor's degree in actuarial studies, mathematics, data science, or a related field;5+ years of actuarial experience, preferably within general insurance (experience in other areas such as life insurance may also be considered);Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical and predictive modelling;Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;Experience working with large datasets and applying actuarial principles to real-world business problems;Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across various teams.This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a dynamic team, offering valuable insights that will shape the company's future.
