Aboutthe Department for Correctional Services The Department employsapproximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisonsand fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Ourvision is for a safer community by protecting the public andreducing re-offending. We work towards this through thecontribution of staff who are employed in a wide variety of fields,from correctional officers and teachers, to social workers,psychologists and supervisors of court orders. Duties TheActivities Officer is responsible to the Manager Offender Services,Yatala Labour Prison, through the Activities Coordinator for thedevelopment and provision of suitable Recreation, Programs,Activities and Sporting opportunities for prisoners at YatalaLabour Prison.
SpecialConditions Section47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction withother provisions of the act and other applicable industrialentitlements. Theincumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a NationalCriminal History Check. Acurrent South Australian Driver's Licence isessential. Hours ofduty are an average of 38 hours over a 7 day roster, howeverroster times may be varied Aflexible approach to working hours is required. Someinterstate and intrastate travel will be required which maynecessitate overnight absences. Acurrent recognised Senior First Aid certificate isrequired Requiredto successfully complete Certificate III in CorrectionalPractice within 12 months (if not alreadycompleted) Requirements Essential:Certificate III in Correctional Practice (refer to SpecialConditions)
Desirable: Appropriatecertificates in sports, recreation, fitness or physicaleducation
Certificate IV Assessment andWorkplace Training or currently enrolled.
Remuneration CO3 ($67,402- $73,345pa)
