About the Role St Joseph's Catholic School, Mount Isa is seeking an experienced and dedicated Acting Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning. This is a fixed-term appointment for 3 months, commencing from 13 January 2025. Secondments for this position will be considered. The position of Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning shares with the Principal the responsibility for learning and teaching and the development of high expectations of students and staff, fostering a high-performance culture in the school measured through student engagement and outcomes.
The Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning will assume a senior leadership role, working with staff to drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of teaching and student learning across the school.
To join this vibrant school community, you'll need: Ability to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community.Understanding of contemporary pedagogy and the ability to differentiate and provide for a diverse range of abilities.Ability to collaborate and work positively as part of a professional learning community.Willingness to change and develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement.Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other: Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers.Postgraduate qualification for a position of senior leadership in Catholic schools, including attainment of/commitment to the completion of a minimum of 8 semester units of postgraduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, or Catholic Ethos from an Australian Catholic university or institution.Full accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.Capacity to enact leadership focused on living and sharing the Catholic faith, the Mission of the Church, and the Catholic school ethos.Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.Current Driver's Licence.Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably across a range of year levels.Masters or other postgraduate qualification in Theology, Religious Education, or Educational Leadership.Evidence of educational, pastoral, theological, and managerial aspects of school leadership.Our Organisation Townsville Catholic Education provides a supportive, flexible working environment where care for the individual is an important part of our ethos.
