About the role: We're seeking an Accounting Lead to be responsible for providing technical accounting support and guidance to the accounting function, development projects, debt / equity market activities and other stakeholders.
This position is expected to lead the assessment and resolution of significant and complex accounting matters across the Group.
You'll join an innovative team, who is responsible for the assessment of the accounting impacts under Australian Accounting Standards (AAS) and International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS) of all major development activities across the Group, the impact of new accounting standards as well as the maintenance of the Group's accounting policy manual.
The position is required to lead transition of accounting for complex transactions from development to BAU, supporting establishment of new processes and controls, including migration to finance systems.

Day-to-day, you will: Lead technical accounting analysis and support for the Transurban Group and subsidiaries, including complex issues arising from business development activity, mergers and acquisitions, organisational change and change in regulatory requirements Support merger, acquisition and development projects with finance expertise including project management, due diligence support, coordination and liaison with advisors, input to market releases and leadership of integration Lead development of and ensure adherence to accounting policies and processes across accounting team Lead assessment and communication of impacts of new accounting standards as relevant to the Group and subsidiaries Lead various accounting processes and execution of key financial controls across accounting team Prepare and / or review new or complex disclosures in the Group and subsidiaries half year end and year end statutory financial statements Provide assistance with any other matters during preparation of the Group and subsidiaries half year end and year end statutory financial statements This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: Appropriately qualified CA/CPA with extensive accounting experience ideally from professional services and or an organisation with complex M&A transactional activity Effective collaboration and partnering with stakeholders (internal and external) skills Previous exposure to more complex financial exercises and structuring, e.g.
large group consolidation, financial instruments, etc.
Demonstrated experience in determining accounting treatment for complex transactions and financial arrangements Proven time management skills with the ability to establish priorities, work to challenging timelines, be resilient and comfortable with change and a collaborative team member Ability to evaluate and establish processes and procedures Exposure to major projects Strong experience in advisory and integration of major acquisitions and developments is an advantage If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
