Accounting AssistantThe Accounting Assistant provides administrative support to the accounting department, handling day-to-day financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. Key responsibilities include recordkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, data entry, payroll support, general administrative support, compliance, and communication.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Recordkeeping: Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in accounting software, update and reconcile ledgers, accounts, and statements, and assist with the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable/receivable.Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors, track incoming payments and ensure proper allocation to accounts, follow up on outstanding accounts and resolve any discrepancies.Data Entry and Analysis: Enter financial data into accounting systems and databases, assist in the preparation of financial reports and summaries, analyze financial data for accuracy and discrepancies.Payroll Support: Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, maintain payroll records and assist with payroll-related queries.General Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including filing, answering phones, and responding to emails, assist with the preparation of tax documents and other regulatory filings, support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations, maintain and organize financial documents and records for audit purposes, assist in internal and external audits as needed.Communication: Liaise with vendors, clients, and other departments to resolve accounting issues, prepare and distribute financial reports to management as required.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is preferred.Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, good communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to work independently and as part of a team, basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Working Conditions:Location: Typically office-based, with standard working hours.
