Accounting Assistant

Accounting Assistants provide administrative support to accounting departments, handling financial transactions, maintaining records, and preparing financial reports. They are detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong analytical skills. With experience, they can advance to roles such as Staff Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Financial Analyst.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in accounting software.
* Update and reconcile ledgers, accounts, and statements.
* Assist with the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable/receivable.

* Process invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors.
* Track incoming payments and ensure proper allocation to accounts.
* Follow up on outstanding accounts and resolve any discrepancies.

* Enter financial data into accounting systems and databases.
* Assist in the preparation of financial reports and summaries.
* Analyze financial data for accuracy and discrepancies.

* Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll.
* Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll-related queries.

* Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including filing, answering phones, and responding to emails.
* Assist with the preparation of tax documents and other regulatory filings.
* Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.

* Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations.
* Maintain and organize financial documents and records for audit purposes.
* Assist in internal and external audits as needed.

* Liaise with vendors, clients, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
* Prepare and distribute financial reports to management as required.

**Qualifications:**

* Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is preferred.

* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

**Working Conditions:**
