About the roleDue to project growth, this newly created position of Senior Project Accountant is a great opportunity for a high impact management accountant to build on their knowledge and experience with a clear path for career advancement. The role is based on site at Mt Arthur South reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager and will work collaboratively with Management and site stakeholders.This rewarding role will require you to provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability, profitability and controls while ensuring financial performance targets are achieved. Key to the success of the role is developing a deep understanding of the projects profitability and commercial touch point, as well as being able to communicate and influence site stakeholders. Ideally the successful candidate is a commercial all-rounder with practical experience in procurement/ contracts (or ability to learn/ develop) to ensure well rounded commercial support and advice can be provided across site.Duties will also include: Lead the completion of end of month processesLead the budgeting and forecasting processCompletion of variance analysis and monthly cost review meetingsSupport site stakeholders with business cases/ improvement initiativesLead and implement improvements to commercial processes/practicesPrepare contract claims and correspondenceMentor team members within the finance teamCompletion of internal and external audits to ensure quality assurance Roster and Location Monday to Friday with a monthly RDOThe Mt Arthur South Project is situated near Muswellbrook, NSW. About youWe are seeking an accounting professional who has a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar position within the Mining Industry.Other requirements for success in this role are: Tertiary qualification in accounting or equivalent Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and financial enterprise resource planning packagesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of taxation legislation, specifically in relation to GST and FBT.Ability to deal with ambiguity and changeMust be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Can engage and build relationships with stakeholders (primarily internal)Ability to exercise discretion/confidentially at all timesA dependable and reliable professional, who is resilient and eager to learn.
