About AustCorp AustCorp is an established recruitment company since 1996.
We have offices in Sydney, Perth & Brisbane.
We employ 40+ permanent staff, and recruit for both permanent and contract roles within all our markets ranging from construction, trades, manufacturing, property and facilities management, industrial and engineering verticals.
Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm in our Sydney office.
We are currently looking to fill an Accountant (General) role in our back office.
The role will lead our back office team, and manage payroll, accounts and operations.Location Sydney Head Office
About the role As the Accountant (General), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring AustCorp's financial health and operational efficiency.
Reporting directly to the senior management team, this role involves managing the back-office team and overseeing financial, payroll, operational, and HR functions.
Your strategic input will be critical in enhancing profitability, optimising cash flow, and driving organisational improvement.
Key responsibilities: Cash Flow and Financial Management:
Oversee daily cash flow management and prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.
Manage the invoice finance facility and produce monthly reports for financial institutions.
Payroll Operations: Supervise payroll operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Reconcile and submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) data to the ATO.
Prepare and submit payroll tax returns.
Manage wage reconciliations for insurance purposes and improve payroll systems.
Accounting and Reporting: Supervise bookkeeping and maintain accounting system administration.
Generate Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet Reports monthly.
Prepare detailed profitability and activity performance reports for senior and divisional management.
Conduct End of Month (EOM) and End of Financial Year (EOFY) closures, examinations, and presentations.
Taxation and Compliance: Manage data for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Business Activity Statement (BAS) submissions, liaising with external tax agents.
Ensure compliance with labor regulations and financial reporting requirements.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, revenue forecasting, and capital expenditure.
Identify and address gaps and opportunities for process and system improvements.
Strategic Leadership: Participate in strategic decision-making processes.
Deliver EOFY presentations to the company.
Identify areas for improvement to enhance profitability.
Team and Operations Management: Manage the back-office team, covering financial, payroll, operational, and HR functions.
Ensure smooth accounts payable and receivable management to optimize cash flow.
Conduct financial investigations and audits to support strategic goals.
What We're Looking For: At least 3 years of experience in the role or similar; Experience working with a high-volume recruitment business or a similar role is an advantage.
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA or CA qualifications preferred.
This role will suit a proactive person Experience with excel and reporting Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and payroll.
Astute payroll experience will be an advantage.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
