The company has achieved significant success in several high-profile engagements over the past few years and is positioned for substantial growth in 2023. We are now seeking a key player to join our operations team, focusing on the accounting function.
A bit about the role:

Set up accounting system: Implement Xero for invoicing, bills, payroll, profit and loss, cash summaries, and ATO-linked tax accounts.
Business as usual: Manage fortnightly payroll and weekly pay runs.
Monthly policies and procedures: Establish month-end procedures. Perform AUD/USD bank reconciliation, accrual P&L actuals and forecasting.
Management reports: Create financial reports and provide tailored scenario-based approaches for optimising costs and monitoring cash flow to support business growth. Monitor project margins to maximise profitability and efficiency.
Tax compliance: Ensure timely submission of BAS, superannuation, IAS, and NSW payroll tax. Prepare yearly tax returns information and keep tax instalment accounts up to date. Notify management about interest on payment plans.
R&D tax incentives: Ensure accurate identification and calculation of R&D-related costs.
Budgeting and forecasting: Collaborate with management and project teams to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, track variances, and provide recommendations.
Cost management: Analyse operational costs, particularly for internal projects and software expenses. Support strategic decisions with detailed financial analysis and government grant submissions.
Risk management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive analysis.
Audit support: Conduct regular audits, resolve findings, and document submissions.
Provide additional financial support as needed.

A bit about you:

Proven track record in accounting/ finance, contributing to company growth.
Strong financial management skills, including cash vs accrual basis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Experience in conducting financial audits, ensuring accuracy, and identifying areas for improvement.
Proficient in accounting software such as XERO, MYOB, and Excel, with a focus on process automation.
Skilled in financial reporting, cash flow management, and account reconciliation.
Experience in analysing financial data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
Effective communicator, presenting financial insights clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, with strong communication skills to engage and influence management decisions.
Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance, ensuring timely submission of BAS, R&D tax incentives, and other lodgements.
Experience in payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable management.
Adaptable to changes in legislation and business operations, and capable of scaling up financial processes to support business growth.
Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
